PCNS needs to be installed on both ESXi hosts?

Subscribe to RSS
  • Hi All,

I have 2 ESXi hosts managed by remote vCenter Server. Both hosts are powered by 2 Smart-UPS RT 2000 RM XL in Redundant configuration as in picture as below

Question: do PCNS running as virtual appliance needs to be installed on both ESXi hosts as shown in picture? Why if answer is "yes" ?

    BR, Wojtek

  • Hi Wojciech,

No, in the above configuration you only need one PCNS VM and it can be deployed on the cluster that you are protecting, when installing it will give you the option to select a redundant UPS configuration.
