I have a Server 2012 R2 SQL box that rebooted one night after hours yesterday so I went to dig through some logs to see what may have caused it and I noticed the APC service was not running and it won’t start so I can’t bring up the web UI to see if it was power related.
I can see in the device manager that the battery is detected. Is there any way for me to get this service running again without rebooting the server?
You can open a command prompt as an admin and enter net start apcpbeagent to start the service. If it does not restart then you may need to reboot or reinstall PowerChute. To see if PowerChute initiated the shutdown you can look in the servers application event log. Open the control panel and go to Administrative Tools - Event Viewer - Windows Logs - Application - APCPBEAgent
Yea the service won't start and I won't get approval to reboot the SQL server as the office is closed (we're in NYC) so it may be a while before I can do so.
