I have a back-ups 700, it's connected to a Debian box (output from apcaccess below).
Last night and about a week ago, I found out it had turned itself off at about 4am, and was making a 5 second beep followed by about a 1 second pause when I arrived at my office later on.
Pressing it's power button stopped it beeping and pressing it again caused it to turn on and operate normally.
We've not had any power outages (microwave clock is fine afterall!) and there's nothing being written in the log files on my attached Linux box - so I feel it's probably a sudden/abrupt power down event on the attached computers.
