In the last month the department I work for has had 3 Intelligence Module failures (SYMIM5) on 2 Symmetra UPS's that were purchased at the same time. We've replaced 2 so far at the recommendation of tech support and now we've had a third unit fail. We have at least 2 other older (by at least 4 years) Symmetra units that have never had a Intelligence module fail. Is this normal? Why are our newest units failing while the older ones seem to be plugging right along? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
I wouldn't call multiple failures normal, but without knowing more about their failure mode it is hard to comment. You mentioned that you spoke with tech support; are you able to send me a case number or serial number of the UPS?
There are a few things that could be at fault here. I recommend getting in touch with APC's single phase support as josh620 did. The number is (888) 809-8324 - that will ring directly to the correct team and support is free. Support should be able to get to the bottom of what's causing this behavior.
