PowerChute Business Edition SNMP Not Working

    I have two SRT3000 UPSs both connected with USB A-to-A cables to Windows Server 2012 R2 servers (one UPS per server).  Running PCBE 9.2, we have been able to successfully monitor all of the different UPSs we've had in the past, mostly SUA3000s.  We got it working with some new SRT3000s, but after a certain amount of time (days or weeks) the SNMP portion stops working.

    We use WhatsUpGold to monitor SNMP on the Windows machines for things like CPU utilization and other stuff.  This continues to work, however our monitoring solution shows all of the APC related SNMP monitors are down.  When I use a separate SNMP walking tool (such as iReasoning) it shows that there is no APC information in the SNMP tree.  The only way I have found to fix the issue is to uninstall/reinstall PCBE 9.2 and then after it detects the UPS I have to resest the actual USB cable and then SNMP starts monitoring correctly.

    I don't think this is a good solution in the long run.  It seems that after a server OS reboot, the PCBE freaks out and SNMP stops reporting correctly and I must reinstall/reseat each time to get monitoring to work.  I cannot upgrade to PCBE 9.5, since out network monitoring solution only supports monitoring one SNMP port per device, and I cannot lose the ability to monitor the OS via SNMP also.  I asked support and they responded that I have to upgrade to 9.5.  I can't do that.

    Hi,

    Sorry for the inconvenience. When the SNMP data is missing if you log into the PowerChute web page does it report lost communication with the UPS? If it reports lost communications is the proper driver loaded? You will find information on checking the driver in Schneider Electric FAQ FA163608

    When I log into the web page is DOES show that the UPS is connected and shows information from it (voltage/current/etc.).

    Hi,

    I will ran a few tests with Server 2012 and PCBE 9.2 and report back once the testing is complete. Does the issue always happen when restarting the OS or only sometimes?

    We thought it was every time, but a few days ago we rebooted and it did NOT stop working.  So apparently it is not every time it reboots.
