    Hi

I have multiple AP8853, witch is metered PDU, but not by outlet.
Iam looking at AP8453, but just have some question about it?

What we will use it for is to count the power usage by our co location customer, and then bill them for the usage.

    1. The one i have can tell me how much KwH the hole PDU have used, since it last reset.
Can the AP8453 tell me how much KwH, each outlet have taken since last reset? And can it tell me this though SNMP?
(As the AP8853, can tell me though SNMP how much KwH it have taken since it last reset though SNMP).

    2. Can i reset just one outlet total KwH, or is the hole PDU i need to reset?

    Regards Kenneth Dalbjerg

    Hi,

1a.) Yes, at the outlet level, you can see current (amps), energy (kWh), and power (watts). Below is a screenshot from a PDU with metering by outlet:

1b.) Yes, this is available via SNMP. All of the AP8XXX series Rack PDU OIDs are within the APC PowerNet MIB and the .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.apc.products.hardware.rPDU2 table (.1.3.6.1.4.1.318.1.1.26). If you browse this table, there are OIDs to see info at the outlet level, rPDU2Outlet.rPDU2OutletMetered.rPDU2OutletMeteredStatusTable .. and you'll find .rPDU2OutletMeteredStatusEnergy.

2.) Yes, you can reset energy (kWh) at the outlet level but it forces you to reset all outlets at the same time. You can also do this for power values.

I say it this way because if I reset all of the kWh loads today:

It does not reset kWh for the entire device (note it still has an earlier date):

    Hope this helps.

Are there any different if we buy the AP8653 instead of AP8453?
It support switching and i think that could be an cool thing to have :)

    Hi Kenneth,

No, AP8653 just adds switching/control of the outlets like you said. The Metering By Outlet functionality will be present and identical to what I explained previously. So, if you'd like to add that ability to control outlets, then go for the AP8653. It certainly can come in handy!
