I have a Symmetra LX 16000 with an XR frame. Today we had a power module fail and also lost access to the XR from. on the XR frame pendant i get an (04 or 0A), 02, and 07 error. I have tried re-seating the SYAFSU16 comm. module, pulling the batteries and re-seating the module but no luck. I have read that you can put the device in maintenance mode etc... and remove the intelligence card as well as re-seat the comm module to try and restart the comm of the main LX frame, but this is in production so im afraid of taking the whole thing down... The only other things is a bad SYXRCC comm module... Thanks for your help...  EDIT: the light on the comm module is also green.

    Hi Travis,

This type of issue is caused by a lack of communication between the main frame and the XR frame. This error typically arises when the XR frame communications card (SYAFSU16) has stopped functioning. It could also be a bad communication cable, but cables rarely fail in this scenario. The other possible issue is that something could be wrong with the main frame preventing the intelligence modules from communicating with the XR frame. You could easily determine this by scrolling through the menus on the display of the main frame to ensure everything looks good (no funny characters or missing data).

As you noted you could also put the unit into maintenance bypass via the switch on the front. You don't need to remove modules at this point. All you need to do is go around to the back of the unit and flip the System Enable switch to the down position, wait a few second and then flip it back up. This is essentially clearing the communications bus (kind of like rebooting your pc or cellphone). As long as you are in maintenance bypass while doing this the load will continue to run. Some people are understandably not comfortable with introducing utility power to the load during operating hours. Honestly, though, I don't think this will fix the error on the card anyway. I think the XR com card is going to need to be replaced.

    David,

Thank for your help, i did put the device in to maintenance mode and flip the System Enable switch which did in fact bring communication back between the XR frame and the LX frame, however i still get a frame fault error. But instead of flashing E4 , 02 and E7 it is now just E4 and 02 along with the continued beeping of the frame fault error...

Hey Travis. Sorry I did not see this sooner. The SYAFSU16 (XR frame communication card) looks like it is going to need to be replaced.
