We're trying to get our RT5000 smart UPS's networked. We cant find what their IP addresses were because the MAC address for the network card is printed on the circuit board and cannot be safely removed while the UPS is powered on and whoever initially configured them didn't keep a record of it.
Being unable to connect to them over the network we're trying to configure a local serial connection so we can see what the IP is but my PC isnt detecting the serial cable.
Any help getting this set up would be appreciated
Network Management Card: AP9619
The AP9827 cable is a USB cable, not serial. USB can't be used to configure the network card. Do you have the serial cable that came with it? Which model RT 5000 do you have?
Its a SURTD5000XLI. It looks like the serial cable that came with it was thrown out by somebody who no longer works here because I can't track it down anywhere, what cable do I need to configure this?
More immediate options:
- pull the card -- it's hot pluggable
- directly connect card to a laptop via ethernet, run wireshark and get the MAC that way.
You can use either serial cable 940-0625 or 940-1525. (same cable, different lengths)
Thanks for that, is it possible to use a generic RJ45-DB9 cable instead of the 940-0625?
