Can someone explain to me why this SURT800 blows up with a loud bang and bright flash when I hit the power button. Its like a shotgun being shot up in my face. I unplugged everything and tired to restart and it blew up again in my face. Smoke was in the air - ridiculously poor design and dangerous!
The unit just shut off and stopped working when it had AC power and the batteries are in good condition? it shut off all of the servers and components that were connected with no warning, my whole data business was stopped because this APC stopped working. no lights, no blinking, no beeping.
I am a hardware engineer with 20+ years of experience with APC's and servers, routers ect.
The flame came through the fan area.

replacing the unit does address the blasting and fire issues -
1) i would like an explanation from an engineer why it is shooting fire and making loud noises
2) APC needs to replace the unit- i cant put it back in service - it can hurt someone or start fires
