We are installing 4 new circuits (3 phase, wye, 208V) and are thinking of using the AP7991 PDU.
1) On coldstart, is there a way to sequence the power to each outlet such that we do not blow a break if they all turn on at the same time? I have read the docs at (http://www.apcmedia.com/salestools/ASTE-6Z6KAV_R1_EN.pdf) and understand we can set the "Power On Delay", but it was not specifically stated that this delay is used (per outlet) on a coldstart.
My concern is exaberated since one of APS's competitors says that this is not the case- that the APC unit can NOT be setup to stagger power-on after a cold-start. (IE. They are saying that the "Power On Delay" only applies during manual/web interface restarts.)
I believe that you will able to configure what you want under Device Manager->Configuration menu. also, I can tell you that you can schedule reboots of the outlets and set a "Power on delay" for that too if you needed to do a daily reboot or power cycle to the pdu.
there is also a command line interface that you can set up to possibly run a script to do something like this - i will attach the document on those commands to this post.
We also have a website, http://testdrive.apc.com, where you can log into a real live switched rack pdu and check out your options there. You can go to the Device Manager tab->Configuration menu inside the pdu and either configure specific outlets or groups of outlets to have a "Power on delay."
Try logging into http://184.108.40.206/ with a username of apc and a password of apc and see what you think about what I mentioned. dont forget to check out the attachment on the command line information if you needed to go that route.
